After the family stated that they had lost contact with Anton Pradana, who had worked as a crew member (ABK) on the Mauritius Islands, Africa since February 2021, PT Anugerah Bahari Pasifik (ABP), which employed Anton Pradana as a crew member, continued to try to find out Anton's whereabouts.
According to the Director of PT Anugerah Bahari Pasifik Hengky Wijaya, since the beginning or after receiving information about Anton Pradana, as an Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) he lost contact with his family, his party continued to look for Anton's whereabouts.
Furthermore, said Anton, the police in Mauritius informed them on March 2 2021, that Anton Prana, along with 6 other crew members who worked on the We Fa ship, had disappeared in Mauritius. The seven crew members were reported missing after being involved in a fight with Vietnamese crew members on February 26 2021.
"From the start, we kept looking for Anton's whereabouts. Only after a statement was issued from the police, we tried to take care of Anto's death insurance. Because if we don't take care of it, the claim could be lost because the processing has a time limit," said Hengky Wijaya at the Office of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI), Thursday (10/2/2022).
According to Hengky Wijaya, the insurance funds that were successfully disbursed and received by Anton Pradana's family amounted to IDR 499,353,720.
Meanwhile, Anton Pradana's family stated that they would donate the insurance funds they received for the construction of the mosque. This statement was conveyed by Djohari, who is also Anton Pradana's uncle, to the Head of BP2MI, Benny Ramdhani, at the BP2MI Office, Thursday (10/2/2022).
"The family wants to donate the insurance funds to charity and avoid conflicts of interest," said Djohari, who represented Anton Pradana's family when receiving the handover of Anton Pradana's death insurance funds at the BP2MI office.
Present at the meeting were Anton Pradana's mother, Usniyah, Djohari (Anton Pradana's uncle), Director of PT Anugerah Bahari Pasifik Hengky Wijaya, Chairman of the Pancasila Labor and Youth Agency (B2P3) Jamaludin Suryahadikusuma, and Chairman of SPPI Ilyas Pengestu. These two organizations are companions to Anton Pradana's family.
Djohari said that the family still really hopes that there will be certainty about the whereabouts of their son Anton Pradana. According to him, the family still doubts reports about Anton Pradana's death.
"We want the status of Anton Pradana's death. We actually need certainty and investigation, rather than just insurance compensation funds," said Djohari.
Meanwhile, Head of BP2MI Benny Ramdhani agreed with Chairman of B2P3 Jamal's idea about the need to involve Interpol to re-investigate the case of the disappearance of 7 crew members in Mauritus. Benny emphasized that he would send a letter to the National Police Chief to follow up on Anton Pradana's family's request.
Benny also stated that this case is a lesson for government officials, that people like the family of Indonesian Migrant Worker (PMI) Anton Pradana need more definitive news about their children.
"This is a lesson for us, that people want the state to be present to provide certainty," said Benny.
Meanwhile, General Chair of the Indonesian Fisheries Workers Union (SPPI) Ilyas Pangestu stated that he would continue to accompany Anton's family in realizing the construction of a mosque from insurance claim funds.
He hopes that the mosque will become a magnificent mosque and become a historical milestone that there was a mosque founded by Indonesian migrant workers.
The mosque is planned to be built at Anton Pradana's birthplace in Babelan Kidul Village, Singojuruh District, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java.
Ilyas hopes that the head of BP2MI can be present in Anton's village in Banyuwangi when the first stone is laid for the construction of the mosque.
